Friday Awesome: Watch This
If you follow us on twitter, you have seen mention of Watch This a few times now, and I thought it would be fitting to finally mention it for a Friday Awesome.
Watch This is the brainchild of Alex & Allison. When I say brainchild, I mean that their brains put on some Marvin Gaye and got their freak on... As they explain it
Yesterday, we watched Amy Adams playing real life blogger and bitch Julie Powell in 2009’s Julie & Julia. The premise: Powell cooked all of Julia Child’s recipes in one year and wrote about it.
The movie was so-so (next time you’re baking, add in more Meryl and much much less Amy), but we were struck by something: We could do that … only, not so much the cooking, because cooking is dumb. Instead, we’re going to watch us some movies. In fact, we’ll do all of The American Film Institute’s 100 Top Movies, in order, in one year (two a week), and then be snarky and write about them. This is in addition, of course, to the normal films we’re going to watch anyway. Yeah, we are awesome, thanks for noticing.
Here’s the beauty – instead of doing it alone, we’re going to invite everyone we know to come watch with us, including you. Never seen My Fair Lady? Come join us on February 3. Want to be freaked out and amazed by Fantasia again? May 28th, baby. Always wanted to watch Citizen Kane? You’ll have to wait a while, but next December, it’ll be our last film.
Tonight they are showing Jaws at Take the Cake, which means you can get a double dose of awesome tonight at 7:30 pm. The movie is free, and there will be amazing desserts for sale. In short, you shouldn't miss this. They also have upcoming showings at Hamburger Mary's, The Cincinnati Athletic Club, and Fountain Square. They are also working on having another showing at The 20th Century... ya know, all places people have never heard of.
